After a young woman's body is found in a canal, Inspector Fallon is drawn into a murky investigation. The deeper Fallon digs, the more dangerous the situation becomes, with threats of violence escalating around those connected to the mystery.
Meanwhile, Craig, a teenager grappling with his own secrets, befriends Baxter, an old man burdened by guilt from the war. Their friendship offers them both a sense of hope, but when Craig feels compelled to reveal what he’s learned, it sets off a chain of events neither of them could have expected.
